Sub Alliances
Big alliances are mostly composed by other alliances. Let sub alliances be able to have their own tag. If you are in the same chain the alliance tag should show in white on the battlefield as you belong to the same chain. In order to have a sub alliance it must have a minimun of 5 members. This would avoid a big diversity of names.

if you agree to join a chain you agree to wear that chains tag. this seems reasonable, why do you need sub-alliance tags? if you dont want to wear the chains tag... dont be in the chain.
