Clean up the weird Alliance system planned

Most alliances are chain-based. However, we asked and received an alliance system with signup links and stuff? Lets get this sorted and have it tied to the chain, lets have in chain announcements, editable alliance administrators, and so on.

Good_dog-AL2 you bring up a good point. Make it so someone requests to have access, and allow one of the admin of the alliance either allow or deny the request. Likewise, we should be able to kick people out.

I don't think access should be automatic upon joining the chain, either... especially if we go back to having more commander changes. If players already chain-hop to read commander's notices during a war, why should they also be able to read everything posted by any alliance member. :P They should at least have to spend time blending in before being granted access... and be bootable if caught.

The alliance system should only be for your chain. When people join a commander, they get access. There should be mods/admins that can be appointed, which should have the ability to ban chain members from the alliance system in the event they are disruptive. There should be a way to access old posts...to a degree. If there's a lot of posts since you last signed on, then you are missing out.

The "owner" should be able to name other "owner" or "mods" or w/e you want to call it. Most bigger clans have some sort of staff and other staffmembers should be able to kick users, and moderate any of the new functions that will be implemented.

as viv said, it would be nice to see older posts, but I would like to add, that would like to ban players from the alliance link. The concept is pretty good and allows players who don't like forums to participate, but is weakly protected against spies. I also propse that the owner can assign some admins that have similiar abilities to the owner.

Ability to delete unwanted members, allocate other admins and send out MMs

    that is a great idea

this alliance thing needs fixing really :D, dont remove it or anything now, its a briliant idea and makes life somewhat easier but it needs tweaking.

I bet this alliance thing wasn't complete when the age started but you implemented it anyways. It would be a good idea to fix this, and add more functions.

since this is already planned, people who voted for this should re-allocate their votes to the next best thing they want to see changed.....

There is so much possibility in this area, I think that canvassing the community on what they want in there should be considered.

well like my alliance was flooded by an alliance after a person left my alliance and i had no way of removing them but to remove myself and the rest of my alliance

is a good idea but more thought should of been put into it before it was put out there, kinda like Vista :P

Well, kickable - if its limited to the chain - i mean, exactly the chain - people can be booted from chain so thats no issue.

There are too many weaknesses in this system. It could be so much better, there is a great opportunity for information sharing amongst the alliance, at the moment, all and sundry can register and see it, very weak management capabilities, make it authorisation only and kickable for ppl that shouldn't be in there, add pinned comments, add user hierarchy and much more

    it's a very good idea (Y)
